Albums Of The Decade : Year 2000 (Pt. II)

4. Scarface - Last Of A Dying Breed. Personally, Scarface is/has been my favorite artist of all-time. I don't know whether it's his paranoid state of mind or his politically-charged lyrics which motivate me. L.O.A.D.B. was released in October of 2000. It wasn't commercially successful as Facemob's prior efforts but it was critically acclaimed. The production was handled by Face himself, N.O. Joe, Mike Dean, Erick Sermon and a few others. It boasted features from Jay-Z, Method Man, Redman, UGK and Tha Dogg Pound. "Sorry For What", "Look Into My Eyes" and "In & Out" are a few standout tracks. The best song on this album, in my opinion, has to be "In My Time" which happens to be the conclusion. FACEMOB.

5. Reflection Eternal - Train Of Thought. Reflection Eternal happens to be Talib Kweli as the sole MC and Hi-Tek as the man behind the boards. This is one of my favorite albums of all-time. Hi-Tek was incredible on the production and Kweli delivered. The themes of this 20-track album included love, the state of the hip-hop nation and a revolutionary mentality. The album included features from Mos Def, De La Soul, Rah Digga, Xzibit, and Kool G Rap. The best song, in my opinion, was "For Women". Pick this album up and cherish it...just in case you haven't heard it already.

6. Erykah Badu - Mama's Gun. This effort was released in November. It was a personal favorite of mine because Erykah actually tackled some personal issues. She dealt with insecurity and some personal relationships. This album went platinum within two months of its release. Erykah was nominated for two Grammys for Best R&B Song with "Didn't Cha Know" and "Bag Lady". I'm sure everyone has heard this album so there is no further need to explain the greatness in Erykah's music.

7. Snoop Dogg - Tha Last Meal. TLM was Snoop's fifth album and it was released in December of 2000. The album sold over a million copies to date. It featured production from Jelly Roll, Scott Storch, Timbaland and Dr. Dre. The contributing artists were MC REN, Lady Of Rage, Tha Dogg Pound, Bad Azz, Kokane, Tha Eastsidaz and Master P. This album was significant in Snoop's career as it was his last contractual album on No Limit Records. It was leaked about two weeks prior to its release on a Death Row Records website. Suge Knight was being spiteful I guess. Who cares? TLM was a solid effort from start to finish and it also spawned many hits including, "What's My Name Pt. 2", "Wrong Idea" and "Lay Low". I wonder if Master P's belly was full from Tha Last Meal...Good question. GO SNOOP!
